The
activities and operation of both the Grand
Boulevard Fire Company and the Niskayuna
Permanent Firefighters Association are overseen
by the Fire District 1 Board of Fire
Commissioners. The Board consists of five
residents within the fire district that are
elected to a position as Fire Commissioner.
These positions include no salary, and are five
years in duration. Every year, in December there
is an election for at least one of the
Commissioner positions.
The Commissioners meet monthly to discuss and
manage the activities of the fire district.
These meetings occur on the second Wednesday of
every month and are open to the public. The
meetings are held at the Balltown Road Station,
located at 1079 Balltown Road. Meeting time is
7:00pm.
All officers and directors are elected by the

Training is free and the District supplies all
necessary equipment.
